Herikon
HMPE 500
The proven combination of low friction and good wear resistance
Polyethylene is one of the most widely used plastics, available in many varieties and suitable for many production processes, from injection moulding to pressing. Herikon supplies two types of polyethylene, both of which have good machinability. HMPE 500 is Herikon’s basic polyethylene variety. HMPE falls under the high molecular weight types, which offer great wear resistance. It also has excellent tribological properties and high toughness, even at very low temperatures.
HMPE is highly suitable for applications in the food processing industry. Because of its low stiffness, HMPE 500 is not suitable for products with very precise tolerances.
Material properties:
- Good tribological properties
- Good chemical resistance
- Resistance to low temperatures
- Tough and wear resistance
- Available in many colours
- Food grade approved according to EC 1935/2004 with certificate

PA-66
Tough and shape-retaining
Polyamide 66 is an extrusion polyamide suitable for smaller parts that are not suitable for PA-6. Herikon PA-66 is somewhat stiffer and is abrasion and chemical resistant. It absorbs less moisture, resulting in improved dimensional stability.
Herikon PA-66 is also available with 30% glass fibre for end products with precise tolerances and higher stiffness.
Material properties:
- Good tribological properties
- High strength
- Resistance to most fuels, oils and greases
- High toughness
- Low moisture absorption
- Available with glass fibre filling

PA-6E/G
Tough, wear-resistant and suitable for large sizes
Polyamide 6 is available both as extruded (PA-6E) and cast (PA-6G), depending on the dimensions of the end product. Herikon PA-6 is one of the oldest engineering plastics, and offers a unique combination of good mechanical properties, specifically toughness and wear resistance, making it suitable for heavier applications such as running wheels and gears. Polyamide 6 can absorb some moisture, so it is unsuitable for accurate tolerances.
Material properties:
- High toughness
- Resistance to most fuels, oils and greases
- Good wear resistance
- High strength
- Good tribological properties

POM-C
The most popular material in mechanical engineering
POM-C is an all-round technical plastic that excels in good machinability in combination with good mechanical properties. In this combination, POM-C offers good chemical resistance, hardness and stiffness.
Herikon POM-C parts can be produced in various colours, including blue for applications in the food processing industry, where POM-C excels.

PTFE
For the best chemical resistance
PTFE is one of the widest known plastics and belongs to the fluoropolymer family. PTFE is often preferred for sliding applications, especially in environments where chemical resistance and higher temperature resistance are important.
Material properties:
- Electrically insulating
- Very low friction coefficient
- Flame retardant
- Operating temperature up to 260 °C
- High chemical resistance
- Good UV and weather resistance
Herikon
PVDF
Good chemical resistance and mechanical properties
Herikon PVDF is a fluoropolymer and is an unfilled material that shares many properties with PTFE. Herikon PVDF has excellent chemical resistance and is mechanically strong compared to other fluoropolymers.
PVDF is also resistant to high-energy radiation, and at Herikon, we can process it into finished products with precise tolerances.
Material properties:
- High chemical resistance
- Flame retardant
- Operating temperature up to 150 °C
- Good tribological properties
- Very good electrical insulation
- Very good UV and weather resistance
